How to use Fuel Consumption Calculator
- Choose the units you used: kilometres and litres, miles and US gallons, or miles and UK gallons.
- Enter the distance driven and the fuel used.
- Read your consumption in L/100 km, mpg and km/L.
About this tool
Fuel consumption in litres per 100 km is the fuel used divided by the distance, times 100: lower is better. Miles per gallon and kilometres per litre are the distance divided by the fuel used: higher is better.
A UK (imperial) gallon is 4.546 litres and a US gallon is 3.785 litres, so the same car has a higher mpg figure in the UK than in the US. For accurate results fill the tank completely, drive, then fill it again and use the fuel added as the fuel used.
