How to use QR Code Generator

  1. Type or paste a web address (or any text) into the box. The QR code appears straight away.
  2. Optionally choose the size, colours and error correction. Keep a dark code on a light background for the best scanning.
  3. Press Download PNG for a picture file, or Download SVG for a sharp vector file that can be enlarged for printing.
  4. Always test the code by scanning it with your phone before you print or publish it.

About this tool

A QR code is a square pattern that a phone camera can read. It can hold a web address, a short message, a phone number, a Wi-Fi login or other text. This generator creates the code in your browser, so what you type is not sent to us.

The codes here are static: the information is stored inside the picture itself. They never expire, there are no scan limits, and no tracking is added. If you later need to change where a printed code points, you will have to make and print a new one.

Error correction lets a code still be read when part of it is dirty or covered. Higher levels make the pattern denser (more small squares), which can be harder to scan at small sizes. Medium is a good everyday choice. A QR code can hold a few thousand characters, but short content scans most reliably. Low-contrast colours, light-on-dark (inverted) codes and very small prints can fail on some scanners, so test before you print.

Privacy: This tool runs in your browser. What you type or choose is not sent to a server by this website.

Common questions

Is the QR code free to use commercially?

Yes. The codes you make are yours to use. There is no watermark, no fee and no expiry. (“QR Code” is a registered trademark of Denso Wave.)

What is the difference between PNG and SVG?

PNG is a normal picture of a fixed size. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, which is better for large prints.

Why does it say my text is too long?

QR codes have a maximum capacity. Shorten the text, or choose a lower error-correction level, which leaves more room for data.

Does the QR code track scans?

No. The code simply contains your text. It does not go through our servers.
